Solid Foods

Like I promised, here goes the solid food experience…

A couple weeks ago, Taylor began to become extremely interested in the food that we were eating.  He would watch us pick it up with a fork, and follow the item, very intently, as we put it in our mouth.  He has been eating about 7-8 ounces of formula, so we thought, well we definitely aren’t upping his formula any more, so maybe we will give solids a try.  He is sitting rather well, so the pediatrician said go for it.  We started him off on rice cereal, and after a near choking experience that almost gave me a heart attack, he finally got it down.  Although, he wasn’t that big of a fan.  He liked the eating part, but the taste…well, these pictures say it all…

After about a week of the rice cereal, we decided to let him venture out and taste some new foods.  I chose carrots!  Let me tell you, those things look and smell gross!  At first, he wasn’t too sure about this weird taste in his mouth, but after a few spoonfuls, he loves them!  I let him play with the food, so he was a little messy, but the smile on his face is priceless.  It is so fun to see Taylor experience new textures and I can’t wait to start to see him become more curious.

Spring Storms

I know that I have fallen off the blog world lately, but our life has definitely been pretty crazy!  Being a mom, being a wife, and working unfortunately take up most of the time during the day, so not too much time to sit and write everything down.  I promise I will try to be better!  Taylor is growing up so fast and I just want to hold onto this moment forever when he is so little, but Casey always tells me, he has to grow up!

Now, to the point of this post!  Spring has finally arrived in Minnesota and with this season comes storms!  Casey and I have been through some hail storms before, but nothing like this!  We were sitting on the couch, and Taylor was sleeping upstairs when we started hearing “thumps.”  Casey asked, “Is Taylor waking up?”  It sounded weird, so we sat still for awhile and then I looked outside!  It was hailing!!  Not the tiny marble size hail either. Golf ball size!

We both jumped off the couch and ran to get our cars in the garage! We turned on the TV, and they said that we were under a tornado warning.  All of the neighbors were outside, just looking around to see if we could see anything.  Then, we decided to go inside for a bit, the weather was just getting a bit to weird.  The sky’s were green and it started raining and hailing.  When we were inside the tornado sirens went off, and that’s when Taylor woke up.  He knew something was going on!  Casey and I looked outside and the wind shifted.  Then, it was over.  As fast as al this crazy weather began, it just ended.  We saw our neighbor who has 911 dispatch on her phone running down the street, so we all went outside, curious of course to find out what she knew.  Well, This is what we saw…

That house is at the end of the block.  It is amazing what a tornado can do.  It was a 2 story house very similar to ours, and it just took the top of the garage clean off!  News reports state that the tornado touched down for 3 miles, they can see the tracks from the air.  Only 1 other house was damaged, and it was just their fence.  No one was injured thankfully, but a little too close for comfort if you ask me!  Give me a hurricane any day of the week!

I hope that everyone else is enjoying their spring, I know we are going outside when there aren’t tornado’s!  We are excited for the beach and can’t wait to meet all the new babies, well probably only 1 by then, but to see everyone will be great.  I promise later tonight I will post about Taylor’s first encounter with solid foods.

Until next time…

Taylor’s First Week at Daycare

And my first week back to work!  Whew! Glad that week is over, although I do work the weekend, so it starts all over again tomorrow, but I’m up for it.  This past weekend we had a HUGE snow storm, so since I had to leave a little earlier for work, Casey dropped Mr. T off at daycare.  It was probably for the better because although I was sad, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.  I was SOOO excited to come home to my family.  I think Taylor was excited too.  So far everything has been going great.  I love being back at work, as weird as that sounds, and Taylor loves daycare.  Miss Kathy is so sweet to him and is always holding him close when we come pick him up.  It is so reassuring to have found someone that treats him so well, it makes things a lot easier!  Other than that, we are just getting our little routine down.  Last night he slept from 9 until 7, we actually woke up to our alarm!  It was weird, but I am thankful for the extra zzz’s I received.  Other than that, we really haven’t been up to much, just mainly enjoying each other’s company.  We are very excited about Spring coming so we can start playing outside.  Enjoy the pictures! I could put up soo many of the same thing, but hopefully this is a little bit of a variety. :)

It sure is hard to have tummy time, because he rolls over as soon as he pushes up!

He loves his naps! He has figured out how to get out of the swaddle, and likes to sleep with his hands up.

All you need is LOVE

Happy Valentine’s Day, a little late.  We had a great Valentine’s Day this year.  A little different than all of our past Valentine’s Days, but definitely an improvement.  Casey had to work, but Taylor and I had a great day.  We took a bunch of photos, and he wasn’t too sure about some of them, but I was still able to get a cute one out of him.  Then, when daddy came home we played on the floor and read some books on the couch.

It’s amazing how someone so little can change your life so much.  He brings so much joy to our life, we just wish that we lived a little closer to share his already vibrant personality with the rest of the family.

His scowl face.  Not the most attractive, but funny.

Finally a good one. Just talking away.

We also went on our first walk outside in our stroller.  It was so much fun, and great to be outside.  He feel asleep in his bear suit before we even stepped out the front door, but he looked so cute all bundled up.  He even had a little smile.  Oh, how I can’t wait for spring.  We can see our grass and I can’t wait to run to the park and have picnics!

What We’ve been up to…

Everything!  It has been awhile since we have updated everyone on what we have been up to.  We have been up to so much, that we just haven’t had time to tell everyone about our fun adventures!  This past month has been very exciting for us.   Taylor is on an eating schedule, he rolls over from front to back regularly, he sleeps through the night (with just one night of thinking that 3:30 was wake up time), and he makes the most wonderful talking sounds.  We finally received his dresser in, so I have been busy finishing his room.

Taylor 171

He LOVES the circles on his walls, and just stares at them.  He is now into 0-3 month onesies, but still in newborn pants.  While they are a little short, the other pants fall off his little bottom. We were also able to meet Mama Smith, who tells Taylor she loves him so much already.

The only other thing that has been going on was that Taylor had a spout of baby acne, and dry skin!  It was horrible!  His little face was so red and it just looked like it hurt.  We received some great medical advice from Dr. Dave, and it eventually cleared up. :)

He is doing really well holding up his head, and his smiles melt my heart every time.  It is amazing the love that you can have for someone so little, and every little thing they do makes you smile even bigger. Raising a child is the most rewarding experience that any person can imagine!  While I don’t wish these moments away, I can’t wait to experience so much more…

Meeting Pops

Taylor Week 5 048

This past weekend Taylor was fortunate enough to meet Pops for the first time.  We were all excited to have family up here in this cold weather.  Pops was able to spend lots of time with Taylor, especially in the mornings, as he now stays awake for quite a while after his morning feeding.  Pops was even able to feed him a couple of times.  One feeding that resulted in an immediate bath.  Taylor was chugging his bottle when all of a sudden the 2 ounces he had eaten came right up, and it was all of the 2 ounces.  It was coming out of his nose! He also decided at that same moment to have an explosion in his pants.  Haha.

Pops and Casey went running outside a couple of days, which I thought was absolutely CRAZY!  We received a lot of snow, and Pops was nice enough to shovel the driveway twice!  We hope that everyone is having a great winter, we are getting through it, although I can’t wait for the warmer weather to come so I can take Mr. Taylor on walks.  This Spring/Summer will be great!
